There’s a great short hike in the Pacific Palisades in Santa Ynez Canyon where the trails are covered by wonderful shade trees.

It’s a wonderful time of the year to hit the trail up to the panoramic views at Los Liones trail in the Pacific Palisades. The views are great, especially up at the Parker Mesa Overlook, and the workout up the trail is just as heart pumping as it’s ever been!
Temescal Canyon Loop is one of the more interesting hikes in the Los Angeles area, it’s close by, it’s got ocean views and some wooded shade.
Additionally, you can approach the loop from one side for an absolute kick-your-butt workout, or if you start in the other direction you have a more easy going gradual ascent up the mountain for a more leisurely hike. Either way it’s a good 2-2.5 hr hike of terrific exercise and wonderful views.
